My favorite from Beirut. I saw them a few months back and was a bit peeved that they didn't play it; still an awesome show!
A few I'd like to share. I'll try to pick ones that haven't been listed yet...and mostly in the folk vein. Anthony Green -- Slowing Down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jclEuoAY7gw&ob=av2n The Bear Romantic -- Farmers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIVYNUVG5Eo The Dodos -- Don't Stop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwn8mEe8bCI Good Old War -- Weak Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouJ-iE5Q2TY Junip -- Without You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHzXF4IAHY8 The National -- Slow Show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KhGUE_KjIo Ratatat -- Lex Some of the best studying/driving/whatever music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L1sxibr8IA The Republic of Wolves -- Home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWfitWVzKxE Youth Lagoon -- Daydream http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl2JjhD6jT0 Okay. I'll stop before I just go on forever.
I listen to RATATAT whenever I clean my house. Especially Classics. Dusting isn't so bad when dancing is involved. Love them.
^Well you might like this and this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkwPVkPbWzU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu8k4SQORHg
Those songs are awesome I'd love to see him live, but unfortunately, I don't get the chance to see most of my favourite artists, cause they don't play near me.
I found another band I think everyone in this thread will appreciate. Sleeping at Last: Here's 2 songs that stand out in particular http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MycpALHPlI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4qhMEZlGA8
In addition to this wonderful thread, I can say that my wife is very happy this topic started. I've suddenly started to listen to different varieties of music in the car recently, other than The Family Tree: The Roots. Don't get me wrong, she loves the album, but I guess you can only hear it so many times I guess. (I put the disk back in the player when she's not riding along though. ^_^ )
Stumbled on this late a few nights ago and really liked it. A jazz trio covering Aphex Twin's "Flim": And I was listening to some Venetian Snares recently, and remembered how much I like this track:
my favs have already been listed, but here is some more the swell season, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5KV1Lf2NkY something you probably won't understand, but still great, Dota und die Stadtpiraten http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkwN3-6oJRU smth. completely different but just came to my mind: Team Sleep - Staring at the Queen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TyGLIdtJuY -> you have to listen till the end and a single i can't stop listening, heard when watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMv2vm6D-9w
I like a lot of electronic music. Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Four Tet, etc. I like music in general. I can be all over the place on play lists.
Like warp records and such. Though I'm not narrowing it down to just that label. Though I have to say Clark from warp has always been my favorite. I remember picking up this album and just found it lying in my mess of a room. Started listening to it and gave me back my summer, though spring should be popping around the bend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyFVJPFP8Pc
The Bad Plus are an amazing group. I see them absolutely every chance I get. If you like their cover of Flim, you may also enjoy their cover of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". However, they also do some great original work. Absolutely flawless discography in my opinion.
Yeah, that's great. I'm gonna look into them more. I not well versed in Jazz, but I stumble on stuff I like from time to time.
Ok so i believe i have something for you all. And i think Ben will appreciate the chorus of the first one. They are not famous and i think they don't play anymore: CYANN & BEN And i've captured this from a friend band. They are really great: MAGIC BUS DAY
I just read a review about Of Monsters and Men and it intrigued me enough to buy the album. Here's a video of this Icelandic Indie band and a few other recent finds I've been listening to. Angus and Julie The Naked and Famous The Xx Cut Copy <----- yes I realize the genre of music posted above is all over the board, but I listen to nearly everything. Enjoy
Love these two. The Naked & Famous' album is one of my favorites, though they sound like they emulate other artists in several songs. One sounds exactly like Radiohead, another like M83, etc. I hope they can create more of a unique identity for themselves on the next one. Doesn't stop me from loving the current outing though! On the other hand, The XX has a sound that's all their own. It's such good late-night music.
Nice! We have similar tastes, for sure. Thanks for posting The Bear Romantic. That was new to me. Ordered his album today.
