The skies are pretty grey here in Vancouver, BC, and they probably won't turn blue again for quite some time. Since you folks obviously have excellent taste, I was hoping you could recommend me some head-bobbin', tail-shakin' tunes to help get me through the season! Here are a few of my favourites: The Low Anthem - Boeing 737: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D3v9VkCdjQ Rickolus - Good Old World: http://grooveshark.com/s/Good Old World/3v2EII?src=5 Estradasphere - Those Who Know...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmax5lblKTg fun. - Be Calm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qMXBUjm8tM&ob=av2e Trampled By Turtles - Where Is My Mind?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZvVeQI0heg
I really like Fun's song "The Gambler." The new stuff they're coming out with this year sounds good as well. Exciteeedddd.
I feel very nerdy for what I'm about to say but it's alright... I've been a huge Zelda fan for years, specially Ocarina of Time. Cory Johnson has the "Explosions In The Sky sound" as he plays music from the Zelda franchise. It doesn't help I'm a sucker for Explosions In The Sky either. http://coryjohnson.bandcamp.com/album/legend-of-zelda-demos
Looove the Antlers and the Arcade Fire. Met Andrew Bird a few years ago ... he's unforgettable live and solo.
Mother Mother is another great band. The vocalists are really interesting. The girl has an incredibly high voice, but it works really well. This is my favorite song by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrIMzTvCs4M
I got another one I had to share! Lucy Rose! She's incredible, this song blew me away. Here's the link. http://soundcloud.com/lucy-rose/red-face
I just can't let this thread pass with out dipping into it a little and sharing with you all. I've connected to these songs a lot, and with there melodies I give a constant hum after they've long since played. (A little folk in there, so I think these fit.) Scattered Tree's- A conversation Anni Rossi- Wheelpusher Horsefeathers- Thistled Spring Local Natives- Who Knows Who Cares kinda different <---
Most of you have probably heard of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, but if not, look into them!
Alright.. so here are my musical darlings from the last few years. So much more..but these stand out. Patrick Watson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkF-uAFXQsQ Ludovico Einaudi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr4FN_DOpSk Thus;Owls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHF_EzmvKBw Moddi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vuPtiaAnWM Alela Diane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJFZUpmv62c Mogwai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1HZm5KhuGk
I like horse feathers too, have you listened to woodpigeon? They're kind of similar, and really good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWu_1qmM0io
Yes!! Woodpigeon is fantastic. I've seen their singer do a few solo gigs and bought a lovely green marbled vinyl Balladeer album. Oberkampf, Knock Knock and Entanglement of Weeds are my favorites.
Yeah, Hospice especially is an amazing album. I've also seen Arcade Fire live last summer, that was pretty cool - so happy they became successful. Lots of good music here, keep going
