I've heard of 12 Monkeys before, I'll check it out soon. I agree about the time travel aspect. A friend of mine said he didn't like it as a "time travel movie". I think he was expecting it to focus a lot more on the technicalities. I'm glad it didn't.

Time travel is really hard to into detail with and not leave holes everywhere. Just as a subject, it kind of splinters apart really easily. Though I've been told to watch Primer for one that digs in well. It's still on my list.

Primer was insane, I still don't fully understand it. If you're not interested in figuring it out it's kinda boring though, like I know my sister didn't like it. It's not "entertaining", more "interesting", if you know what I mean.

Watched Mysterious Skin with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I don't remember being that drawn into a film for a long time. Not for the feint-hearted.

Saw that recently, pretty depressing. I recognized that kid from Brothers Garcia though which was funny to see where he ended up.

Another movie I think is really great is Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The music from it's fantastic too. ALSO THE SOUNDTRACK TO HANNA IS FANTASTIC although the movie wasn't anything special in my opinion. But Hedwig and the Angry Inch, yeah. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be confused as to how you should feel. But it's great.

Watching Barney's Version. Paul Giamatti is like a cross between Ben and Adam Savage.

The advert's music choice is the only reason I read the book and saw the film!

I'm gonna go give it a watch tonight, I think. I liked the book, so it was fun to be used for the trailer. So we'll see how the film goes.

I saw Seven Psychopaths last weekend and it was unbelievable!

Definitely not to everyone's taste, but I absolutely loved it. The most fun I have had in a cinema since Cabin in the Woods' final act (those who have seen it will know)

Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken and Tom Waits (yes, THAT Tom Waits) in a movie that was written and directed by the writer/director of In Bruges?!?
    Yes Please!

I haven't seen 7 Psychopaths yet, but I'm going to. I'd watch it for the cast alone.

I saw Perks. I enjoyed it. The book was a bit more effective for me, but that's always the case. And the guy who wrote it also wrote the screenplay and directed it. Really good job for a first film.

I'm mainly going to see 7 Psychopaths because it was done by Martin McDonagh. He did In Bruges as well. Plus, I recently learned Michael Pitt is in it, great in Boardwalk Empire.

I can't wait for Skyfall and Django Unchained... and The Hobbit. Just saw Wreck-It Ralph. It was very good.

I really need to get round to seeing Skyfall, mainly because apparently a small (and I mean very small) part was filmed in my hometown. I've heard its just a shot Bond chilling out on the beach, but knowing the weather here the image probably would of had to have been brightened in post!

Skyfall is really brilliant. I went to see it a couple of days ago, and it was great. Easily one of my favourite Bond films, of those I can remember right now.

The villain could have been fleshed out a bit more, but it made up for it in other ways.

I got round to seeing it a few days ago. I see what you mean about the villiain, though it was much better than the main Casino Royals villian. The Skyfall one was more of a classic "Hello Mr Bond" *strokes cat* kind of one, if that makes sense. :)

    Saw a couple movies recently.

I liked Life of Pi. Not quite as strong as the book, but the scene with the sinking ship was phenomenal. I'd say it's worth watching the film for that scene alone. Though I did like it as a whole.

I also saw The Hobbit. And I watched it in the new format (48fps, 3D). I didn't like the format at all. I couldn't get into the look. I also didn't care for the movie very much. I like the book a lot, and I had a lot of issues with how they went about it with the film. I'll save from ranting here, because I can ramble on these things, but it was an all around miss for me.

Man, I have to hear your rant about The Hobbit!
I agree about the format, but as far as the film went, I j'adore it. It felt fun and strong and I grew ridiculously attached to the characters and their braided beards. And I felt about the Riddles In The Dark scene as you did about the sinking ship scene in Life of Pi--the movie was worth it just for that. The scene was incredible. I wrote about it here: http://ellieannsoderstrom.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/a-fanatics-review-of-the-hobbit/

I saw a lot of movies this month:
-First I saw Rise of the Guardians: I expected it was a movie for kids, but I actually liked it, it was funny, a kind of Avengers with kids' legends. I saw it twice, I don't regret it at all.
-I saw Wreck-it Ralph too, but this one was very disappointing. They could have done something great with those ideas, but the sense of humor wasn't really amusing, and there was a lot of ads in the film...
-Life of Pi is nice, but as you said, the most phenomenal scene was the sinking ship, and the rest of the movie wasn't extraordinary.
-I liked The Hobbit, I saw it in the new format too, and it was the first time I thought the 3D was really nice, because of the 48fps. We don't usually see films in this format and we need a few minutes to adapt ourselves, but when it's done, I think it's better than the 24, 25 or 30 fps. I didn't read the book, but except for the scene with the stone giants fighting I didn't think "That's not usefull in the movie, why did they add this scene ?"
-I saw Argo, it was a great movie, I don't have a lot of things to say about it but I enjoyed it a lot.

I wanted to see Perks too, it was supposed to be in theaters on December 19th in France, but finally it will be on January 2nd, I still have to wait...
I also saw two "old" movies: Schindler's list, a very great movie, and Rain Man, another great movie. I had to watch both for one of my classes and it made me discover that Dustin Hoffman was a fantastic actor !

Saw The Hobbit today. Watched it in 2D in the old format because I hate 3D, and I have to say it was average. I don't think a lot of the stuff they added in was necessary. Gandalf still has his sparkle though.
