Ok, so I figure somewhere in the series of a posts, there's information about when we're supposed to receive our packages from the pre-order, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find it. Anybody know anything?
Got a mail yesterday that it's shipped =) But I ordered from the EU page and don't know if it's the same as the US page since it's different companies.
For an update on all this: I got the CDs today, and I am also back home. So everything on the US end will ship Monday. The delays for the US were twofold: 1) there were a bunch of communication problems on how to bind this booklet (it's not a standard CD), and 2) it was being manufactured in the UK. I went with a company over there because they could do custom work that I could afford, but are also carbon neutral and eco friendly, and I'm into that stuff. But it had to be shipped from there to my apartment, which added to the delays. Next time I'm gonna do this stuff months in advance, but I couldn't this time if I wanted the record to come out this year (November and December are dead months in the music world). But they're here, and I'm really happy with how it all came out. It should be getting to everyone shortly. So yeah. Thanks for your patience. I promise to get better at all this as I go. It's just all pretty new to me still.
Got my CD today. I love the little bonus envelope. And the book itself... I must say, I wish all bands put this much effort into presentation. Great stuff. Ben: Thank you, sir. A fantastic package for the best record I've heard all year.
The preorder package was well worth the wait. The tee shirt looks great, and the postcards are now proudly hanging in my room. And as for the booklet... I never buy physical CDs, but I knew that you would make an art of it, and i could not be happier. The graphics are superb, and the presentation is so well thought out and meticulously detailed. My eternal gratitude.
Thanks for the words on the CD and such. It took a lot of time, so I'm glad it came off well. I'm proud of it. It's the stuff I always wanted to do in the past, but was always told it wasn't practical. But now that I'm doing it myself, I can be as impractical as I like. Which is fun. Definitely a big bonus to self releasing.
Cd and shirt arrived today. A perfect Halloween treat The cd is absolutely beautiful. One of the nicest I've seen in a really long time. Great job! Love the goodies in the envelope too! I've gotta ask, where on earth did you find music staff masking tape?! That's gotta be the coolest thing ever.
Yeah, my sister found the staff tape. She's good at hunting those kind of things down. And thanks for all the feedback and kind words. Glad to hear the work paid off.
Has anyone figured out how to get a hold of ghost vinyl? At least for a price that wont break the bank account? The only one ive seen is on amazon for $200+ . im ordering two copies of family tree, your vinyls so hard to come by.
You can get Ghost, and Electric President albums on vinyl directly from Morr/Anost (Ben's old label) here: http://www.anost.net/en/Shop-Shop/Radical-Face-Ghost.html?listtype=search&searchparam=radical face Or you could try: www.discogs.com I aslo collect vinyl and wanted to get first pressings of all Ben's work. I contacted Morr/Anost by email to ask how I could distinguish between first and subsequent pressings of Electric President/Radical Face titles. Here is their reply : Me: Could you tell me if Morr did multiple pressings of its Electric President and Radical Face vinyl (ANOST009, ANOST010, MM062, MM069, MM084)? If so, how do you tell the difference between the first pressing and subsequent re-pressings of those titles? Morr: The 7"s are one pressing only, as well as mm062 (sold out) and mm 084 (still in stock). only mm 069 (Ghost) vinyl has seen a second pressing which is done from the same master plate and thus identical. however, a difference exists, as the initial pressing contained a poster and the second doesn't. the second pressing should contain a download coupon instead. To my knowledge, Ghost was re-pressed for the first time this year, and has a sticker on the cover that says "This vinyl is accompanied by a free download coupon". The original first pressing has a sticker that mentions something like "From Electric President..." I'm still trying to get a mint first pressing of Ghost, though it has not been easy. I can assure you that $200 is way over the top!
Will the vinyl preorder also come to the European merchandise store? Or should I just go for the American website? I see that you get an instant download of the album which I would like very much.
The vinyl will be available everywhere. And I'm potentially licensing this record to a European label (I will still retain my rights/creative control, but they will help sell it and get a cut) and will have distribution at the beginning of the year in Europe, UK and Australia. Fingers crossed it works out. Customs is a pain. And I finally found someone who can cut a good plate (it's a dying art, for sure), so it will go into production very shortly. It's been a real process.
I appreciate the effort you are putting in, that's for sure. I'll keep my eyes open for a preorder from the european merchandise store.
I received lots of compliments for the fantastic t-shirt I was wearing the other day. Even a professional photographer complimented me on it. Are there any plans for more merch soon? Maybe with release of the branches?
has anyone received family tree pre- order vinyl yet? and also is the cd version you can get here, on the website, in a jewel case? i only have the hand made copy from ben.
I'm actually about to start doing something kinda fun for merch. A good friend of mine got a full screen printing set up going in his garage. Some guy was selling it on Craig's List for cheap and he scooped it up. I'm working with some artists I know to make shirts for the various music projects, and I'm gonna print them with my friend in his garage. They will be really limited runs of around 50 or so, and I'm gonna pay the artists with the profits. It'll just be a small side thing, but I'm getting ready to do the first run shortly. The first design actually comes from Amber on this board. She does a lot of cool print stuff, and she's gonna let me use one of the images for a Radical Face shirt.
Aww sweet, can't wait for some new Radical Face gear. I desperately need new shirts and this totally will work!
