Congrats on getting "Doorways" out there on the commercial for that movie! I understand that there has been a lot of interest generated from it, with people what is that song in the background? "

So I wanted to prove that I saw the same trailer with that song in the background but had trouble locating it. Now, someone else has mentioned it, and I'm happy because for a while there, I thought I was going crazy!

Thanks! Yeah, it's fun lending stuff to films. Mostly because I like movies. But it helps pay for everything as well. So it's a win/win.

Ah yes! Saw this trailer in the cinema a few weeks ago, I almost jumped up when I heard doorways haha. It's such a great song, I always get goosebumps when I hear it.

Just saw the commercial on tv and was happy for you. I'm glad the deal helps financially and is win/win. I hope the exposure helps bring more attention to your music, which is moving and fantastic. Just please come back to the D.C. area..... that show in the church in Virginia was just too short.

Don't know if this is the proper forum to bring it up, but how exactly does this work. If one wants to use a clip or a whole song from Radical Face in a personal video, is it ok unless it gets a lot of hits? Or does it only need permission when its used for commercial purposes?

I'm pretty sure Ben (and please correct me if I'm wrong) isn't concerned about you using one of his songs for a personal video that you intend to put up on youtube for you and your friends. However if you want to use it for some sort of promotional or commercial purpose that stands to earn you or people you know money than you should see about licensing. If you were going to use it in an independent personally financed film you should email Ben and ask for permission. I bet if he likes your concept he would be more than willing to work something out for you.

Thanks for that reply Pedro. I expected it to be that way. Just didn't know if there where specific mediums through which to pursue licencing agreements other than attempting to contact the artist directly. I really love Ben's music. I've only used it once for a personal video. But I've had people tell me they like some of my personal video, and I wondered if I ever did decide to do a professional project, what I would need to do to use Ben's music. I like it because it has a lot of atmosphere and makes almost any clip look amazing.

Pedro has the right of it. I don't ever mind people using the music in their personal projects. It's fun for me to give it to people and potentially help spur their projects along. If it gets into public/commercial stuff, there's legalities to sort for both parties, so that goes over to publishing to figure out the terms. But for personal work I'm always fine with it.
