I feel like I can totally relate to that a lot. Whenever I play shows around Detroit (where I'm from) no one ever seems to give a shit, but it's like once you are on the road and you are from somewhere else people seem to start connecting. I don't know if that is the reason or what it is, but if it happens to you, than it makes me feel less shitty about it happening to me.

I've thought before about getting a bunch of fans and all coming to jacksonville since you don't tour a lot and just like making you perform for us. It sounded less dickish in my head. It would be an interesting change of pace for all the fans to come to the performer than viceversa.

From what I gather it's a common problem all over. I think part of it stems from "Grass Is Always Greener" syndrome, and how people respond when it feels exotic. Special things can't come from your own back yard, or something of the sort. I don't spend a lot of time questioning it, personally. I just make what I'm gonna make, do it to the best of my ability, then see what happens. If it works better in other places, so be it. If it works nowhere but in my own head, that's okay too. For whatever reasons, Jacksonville isn't a place for me as a musician. But it's fine as a person, and that's all I'm really looking for anyway. Music is portable.

And it'd be funny to flip the show scenario. Not very practical, but if for some reason you drove to Jacksonville, I'd likely do it. Just in my living room or something. Hahaha.
