Thought it might be fun to find out how we all discovered Ben's music, and maybe the poll could also help Ben to identify ways of getting himself the recognition he so clearly deserves.

I'd definitely be interested to find out. It's fun to see how stuff travels, and often a little strange, seeing as I don't even leave my house all that often.

years ago a friend of mine made me an 'mp3' cd, with a whole bunch of albums on it. this was shortly after the release of 'self titled', and finding that album on the disc was a nice surprise inbetween some hit-and-miss music. I researched who this new 'Electric President' band were, and discovered they were on Morr Music so I ordered a retail copy of 'self titled' and 'you have the right to remain awesome' (both parts) from boomkat. I've been a Ben-a-holic ever since :D My iPod Ben Cooper playlist is almost at the 100 songs mark, just waiting for The Roots to come out and push me over that milestone haha.

There was a sampler in the winter 2009 edition of Under the Radar magazine that featured Elegant Disasters.

about 5 years ago I think, Insomnia on an episode of the OC

coincidentally that show also introduced me to Imogen Heap, another favourite artist

A playlist I got somewhere of 100-ish songs from upcoming releases. It was 2006 and Welcome Home was on it. Obviously it stood head and shoulders above the rest of the rabble and I had to get more! I don't think I listen to a single other song from that playlist anymore, but it served its purpose.

First heard Welcome Home on an Eddie Izzard documentary. My 10 yr old daughter showed me how to get Shazam for my phone so I could find out who it was. I managed and even worked out how to use the phone too .

A recommendation from a stranger at a Radiohead gig in Glasgow in 2007. Got chatting and realised we had very similar taste in music and she just gave me the name Electric President. I then listened to the self titled album and I was hooked. Metal Fingers blew me away on first listen.

Actually on Pandora off my Death Cab for Cutie station in 2009, which is funny because i never listen to them anymore and listen to ben nonstop.

It was so long ago, maybe it was Electric President first and perhaps maybe not. It was probably 2008, where I began a full explosion into music that I deemed his music the most interesting and relative. I'm pretty sure it was from an indie blog that still running, called music for ants. Anyway, I'm glad how I found the music trail, and I'm glad Ben has even shared the rare stuff.

Wow, I saw first heard it on the same programme and also discovered it with Shazam!

I was browsing through iTunes one day, looking at bands 'similar' to The Postal Service, shortly after the release of the Self-Titled. I then listened to one song, and was totally hooked.

I've never understood how people deem Electric President similar to Postal Service, but i suppose I can see small similarities. What I really hate is when it is compared to Owl City, that's downright offensive.

It was 2007, winter time. I was digging through some music online and was looking for Electric Light Orchestra, and while clicking on their songs to download, I accidentally (Fatefully?) downloaded Ten Thousand Lines. The first time I listened to it, I was absolutely floored. I bought all I could from iTunes, and scoured the internet for anything else. Since that day, Electric President and Radical Face have been basically all I listen to. All day, every day. All of Ben's songs have at least a 100 play count mark, including the songs from The Bastards. I don't know why, but I get sick of every song I've ever listened to after about 5 times through, but not one of Ben's songs is like that. Incredible.

I followed a recommended link to a video by filmmaker Felix Urbauer which features some great slow motion shots, nice scenery and inspiring mountain bike riding. The background song spoke to my soul and I have been a Ben Cooper addict ever since. http://vimeo.com/16899323
