Hey, I saw a post on here a while ago giving the chords for Doorways. Well, the forums got re-made, and I found out the chords were wrong and fixed them and made a pretty way to finger-pick it on guitar. Strangely enough, the song is in normal guitar tuning (not tuned down) in 3/4. Since it's a somewhat monotonous song on guitar I made my own way to make it really pretty. In case you don't want to read about my own way, the chords are correctly: verses D Bm D F#m, bridge 1st Bm G D/F# Dmaj7/C#, then 3 times Bm G D A, outro D Bm D Bm. For most of the first and second part, there's a simple finger-picking pattern I use, it's the same one as from "I sank into the sea...wrapped in piano strings..." in the video. We're only concerned with 4 out of the 6 strings at any time, so its like this: Code: like in tabs, 1 X 2 X X 3 X X 4 X Since the song is in 3/4, you repeat that 4 times per chord, more or less. I also use my own style chords, you will see why when you play it, here is a quick reference. Code: D E A D G B E X X 0 2 3 2 Bm X X 4 4 3 2 F#m is just barred, 2 2 4 4 2 2 We're only interested in the top four strings for the first part, then the middle four for the second (I'll give updated chords for that). Part 1 ~~~~ D when i was just a boy still owl-eyed Bm i liked to drink the rain to taste the sky D i tried to count the stars while in my bed F#m to keep the thoughts of monsters from my head Part 2 (new chords) ~~~~ Code: D E A D G B E X 5 4 2 3 X Bm X 2 4 4 3 X F#m same as above, just use the middle 4 strings to pick D and i believed the stars were wishes i believed the world was good Bm i believed things hid in the dark and that all would turn out just how it should D i believed in all your stories i believed you'd never lie F#m i believed if i could climb the trees behind the house, i'd [light strum of F#m] touch the sky (bridge) intro: first time is Bm G D/F# Dmaj7/C# Chords for those D variations are Code: D/F# E A D G B E X X 4 2 3 2 Dmaj7/C# X 4 X 2 3 2 the rest is Bm G D A: Bm G D A i believed Bm G D A the skies were doorways Notice the lack of 'home' on there? That's because it's the first beat of the outro D home For the outro, I like to just lightly strum the D then Bm from part 1, then D then Bm from part 2, and repeat. Only strum each one twice. It gives it a nice deepening to the ending, and you let it ring out on the last Bm.
That's cool that you came up with a guitar version. I'll have to try it out. I've never tried to play it on anything but piano.
