Unkle Stiltskin:

This project was formed in 2002 by Corey Loop and Ben Cooper. We wrote about 8 or 9 songs together, planned on recording them, then Corey moved across town and we more or less forgot about it. But in early 2003 I bought an 8-track and we decided to finally lay the songs down. Alex Kane joined us for the recording process and played the bass and some guitars. And that was that. We never played any shows, or did anything with the recordings. But you can download them now if you like. And I like to call the record "The Title of This Album is Unimportant Because We Don't Exist Anymore, You Fucking Idiot." But I don't know if that was ever decided upon. Links below.

Headache and Pearl Harbor:

This is an old project between myself and Rickolus. I first met Rick since I was about four and I have been in regular contact with him ever since. Later in life, when we were teens, we both worked at a local movie theater called "Pablo 9", and while there we started a music project called Headache and Pearl Harbor. The idea was to write and record songs in a single sitting. No later additions, no tweaking, no fixing stuff that sucked. What came out was what came out and that was that. As a result, most of the songs are unlistenable to anyone but the involved parties, and nearly all of them have complete nonsense for lyrics (when we weren't laughing through the entire thing, which was often). But a few of them resemble actual songs. Rick bounced a lot of those 4-track tapes to his harddrive last year, and I recently dug through the files and mixed a few songs down. They're not necessarily any good, but I figured it'd be fun to put a few up.

But I tell you, it's pretty damn odd to hear something this old. I was 16 when these songs were recorded. It's fun to hear where I was at 10 years ago, but it can be uncomfortable too.

Anyway, this first song was recorded in the bottom of a theater 2 at Pablo 9, just below the screen. We snuck into the theater after it closed, dragged our equipment in (and by that I mean a Tascam 4 track, a cheap mic, and some instruments), and wrote and recorded 3 songs. The rest were from other sessions, either done in Rick's living room, his shed, or at a friend's house. I'm posting 5 tracks in all, but we probably have around 40 or 50 of these.

It's been a long time since Rick and I have worked together. We talked about that recently, and decided this year we're going to remedy that. And under normal circumstances, too. Not the Headache and Pearl Harbor rules. I'm curious to see what we come up with.

Random Junk:

All the below songs are 4- and 8-track recordings from sometime between 2000 and 2004. Most were recorded with Alex Kane, some were solo. We recorded together a lot before turning the collaboration into anything official, just whenever we both had the same day off of work or whenever the chance presented itself.

Everything was laid down with whatever gear we had at the time. For about a year we tracked with only a half broken sm58 and a borrowed 4-track. It was in 2003 that I finally bought a condenser mic, and moved from 4 tracks to 8. For sequencing, I used this program I found in a clearance bin at a department store. It was called MTV's Music Generator, and it was awful. Drums were either a borrowed kit, or I'd just play a casio keyboard with my fingers. A few were done with slightly nicer equipment, but not many.

I've got a bunch of songs from this time period laying around, so I'll add more to this section over time.
